HISTORY & FACILITIES

Calvary Catholic Cemetery performed its first burial on November 17, 1882. Over the past 125+ years, more than 23,000 people have been interred in this religious cemetery. Today, Calvary averages about 265 burials per year. The entire cemetery is over 16 acres, with over 1 acres remaining to be developed. It is estimated that the cemetery will continue to be fully operational for the next twenty years. Calvary Catholic Cemetery mainly serves the needs of the Catholic community of the greater San Jose area.

Over the past 125 years, Calvary has cultivated a unique history, rooted in the diversity of San Jose. Calvary is home to some rich characters from the "valley of heart's delight." Some notable figures from San Jose's past are buried at Calvary. Those better-known names include Louis Pellier, members of the Alviso, Bernal, and Berryessa families; as well as members of the Auzerais, Mirassou, Alameda, Tully, and McGlaughlin clans. Sixteen Union veterans of the Civil War and hundreds of Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces are also interred at Calvary.

Calvary Catholic Cemetery offers a variety of burial locations, including spaces for cremated remains, indoor and outdoor crypts, and in-ground burial for individuals, couples, and families. Our non-commissioned staff is committed to serving you with dignity and care. Cemetery Family Service Counselors are available six days a week to help you make arrangements when a death occurs or to assist you with planning in advance for your own services.

We offer affordable pricing with flexible payment plans to meet your needs. We invite you to visit Calvary Catholic Cemetery to learn more about burial options and pricing.
