Open positions:

  • Temporary Field Worker : The full-time temporary Field Worker will perform all types of operational, maintenance and construction activities ordinarily done in the cemetery. Specific duties include excavating of graves, burial functions, sodding, seeding, marker setting, grounds and facility maintenance and cemetery clean-up. The Field Worker also assists in periodic special construction, development or renovation projects.
  • Pre-Need Counselor: The Pre-Need Counselor conducts personal, in-home and on-site visits with families to explain the services offered by Catholic Cemeteries in the context of the Catholic burial tradition and invite them to pre-plan for burial arrangements at one of the Catholic Cemeteries in the Diocese of San Jose. The Pre-need counselor carries out duties in accord with the mission and core values of Catholic Cemeteries.
  • Cemetery Funeral Assistant: The part-time Cemetery Funeral Assistant will assist client families during burial services and is responsible for creating and maintaining a premier level of client family satisfaction. The Cemetery Funeral Assistant will set up and work burial services at all Diocesan Cemeteries and will work closely with Family Service Counselors, Funeral Directors and other Cemetery staff. This position reports to the Cemetery Manager. Knowledge of the Catholic Church culture and structure, as well as an understanding of Catholic burial rites. Sensitivity to the funeral rites of other faith traditions. Ability to deal with grieving clients on a daily basis. The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information required. The ability to handle stressful situations. It is preferred that candidates for the Cemetery Funeral Assistant position have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience is required, cemetery or funeral home experience is preferred. Effective verbal and written communication skills, bilingual skills are desirable. Cemetery Funeral Assistants must possess a current, valid CA drivers license and have proof of insurance. The position requires the ability to work Monday-Saturday 9:00am-3:30pm, but not more than 19 hours per week.
  • Cemetery Sales Supervisor:The Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of San Jose seek a committed and visionary leader with a passion for working collaboratively with staff to provide the highest level of ministerial care and professional service to our client families. The Sales Supervisor works directly with the Director of Cemeteries to ensure the fulfillment of the mission and core values of Catholic Cemeteries. The Sales Supervisor oversees the essential sales operations of Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of San Jose including supervision of personnel, customer service, sales, sales processes and integration of the information and records systems. The Sales Supervisor will work closely with the Outreach Manager, as well as the Controller. The successful candidate should demonstrate an understanding of, and ability to forward the ministerial mission of the Catholic Cemeteries. The candidate has a proven track record of exemplary experience and excellent leadership and organizational skills. Cemetery experience is required. Effective verbal, written communication skills, and strong planning and problem-solving skills required. A Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field is preferred. The position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

  • Client Care Services Assistant:The Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of San Jose seek a committed and detail oriented Client Care Services Assistant to provide the highest level of ministerial care and professional service to our client families. The Client Care Services Assistant provides the highest level of care and service to clients by effectively understanding their needs and ensuring these are met by the appropriate staff person. The Client Care Services Assistant is responsible for providing effective communication and administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the cemetery office. The successful candidate should demonstrate an understanding of, and ability to forward the ministerial mission of the Catholic Cemeteries. The candidate has a proven track record of exemplary experience and excellent communication and organizational skills. Cemetery experience is required. Effective verbal, written communication skills, and strong attention to details and problem-solving skills required. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is preferred. The position requires the ability to work 40 hours, Monday-Saturday, 8am-4:30pm.
