Open positions:

  • Pre-Need Counselor: The Pre-Need Counselor conducts personal, in-home and on-site visits with families to explain the services offered by Catholic Cemeteries in the context of the Catholic burial tradition and invite them to pre-plan for burial arrangements at one of the Catholic Cemeteries in the Diocese of San Jose. The Pre-need counselor carries out duties in accord with the mission and core values of Catholic Cemeteries.
  • Cemetery Funeral Assistant: The part-time Cemetery Funeral Assistant will assist client families during burial services and is responsible for creating and maintaining a premier level of client family satisfaction. The Cemetery Funeral Assistant will set up and work burial services at all Diocesan Cemeteries and will work closely with Family Service Counselors, Funeral Directors and other Cemetery staff. This position reports to the Cemetery Manager. Knowledge of the Catholic Church culture and structure, as well as an understanding of Catholic burial rites. Sensitivity to the funeral rites of other faith traditions. Ability to deal with grieving clients on a daily basis. The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information required. The ability to handle stressful situations. It is preferred that candidates for the Cemetery Funeral Assistant position have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience is required, cemetery or funeral home experience is preferred. Effective verbal and written communication skills, bilingual skills are desirable. Cemetery Funeral Assistants must possess a current, valid CA drivers license and have proof of insurance. The position requires the ability to work Monday-Saturday 9:00am-3:30pm, but not more than 19 hours per week.
